Winter Wonderland -- with Pics!

The snow has been falling for a few days now; needless to say, it tends to make things difficult, especially if you actually have to go somewhere (say, to work, or to pay bills, or to purchase groceries....).

If you have a car, it might look like this:

It's a car. Really!

Or like this:

You can't just get in and drive.

If there's sun, you might see something like this:

I'd say they meant to clear this up... Someday.

With no sun, it's more like this:

Still looks fun to play in!

Or this:

The trees don't seem very happy.

If you're not driving, the path is on the right:

It's trickier than it seems.

But before that: do you go left, or right?

Choose your path.

After that, there's this:

Uneven and tricky -- perfect for straining your ankle.

Fortunately, there are bars on the side. In situations like walking this, they're very useful.

Just grab 'em.

Not everyone is unhappy with the snow. Some people really love it, if they don't have to go far. Some kids and plenty of dogs are quite happy to play in the snow (because of the snow and the low temperatures situation, schools won't be working this entire week). Cats don't seem to mind the snow, either -- the one on the picture below is as friendly and soft-furred as usual:

Pet me or I'll bite!

How about you? Do you have problems with the winter and the snow?

I don't like the snow. It makes traveling too dangerous and when it makes me lose power, I really want to scream. Nope, no use for the stuff.

Last Monday, some pipes burst because of the low temperatures, so about 2000 people, us included, didn't have water for the entire day. Losing power is also bad. Still, the snow does look pretty.

I love snow. Of course, working from home being able to look out my windows and admire it with a cup of tea in hand certainly enhances the experience.

Hope your utilities are back on track. Keep warm!

I work from home too, so the snow doesn't give me too much trouble, but I understand it can be quite difficult for those who do have to go to work or to finish some errands.

Hi there! Just found your blog on She Writes and am a new follower:)

My gosh y'all have got a lot of snow - London's snow was pitiful in comparison ...

Hi, nice to meet you!

Yes, there's a lot of snow here -- and to think we're much more to the south than London is!

I also don't like snow! In Alberta we were supposed to get tons of snow, but we didn't. It feels like Spring here. Also I want to award you with the Libster blog award. Follow the link to find out more.

It was like spring here in December. Thanks for the award!

Ivana, great photos! Ever since I spent one year in North Dakota, where snow was twenty inches high, I hate the snow. Now, a couple of inches of snow fall here and I'm already breaking out in a cold sweat. But like you said, it does look fun to play in! :)

Generally, I like snow, I grew up with it (imagine kids turning blue from cold but still not wanting to go home and wishing to stay and play instead), it's just the too much snow that's annoying.

Hmmm- well there is snow ... and then there is SNOW! Wow, your conditions look like fun to play in but not so much for getting around and taking care of the necessities of life. It's terrible to think of not having proper heating or plumbing in a winter like you are having. Hopefully spring will come early!

An early spring would be nice, but they said we'll have more cold days in March -- although not THIS cold, and there shouldn't be much snow, either.

We don't get too many big snows here, which is disappointing. I haven't had a car buried like that since 1998!! Cool pics.

I'd like it if we didn't get THAT much snow here either. :)

Then again, it's all melted now anyway.
