Friday Fun -- Snakes!

Holding a boa for the first time...

Snakes are adorable. Well, at least some of them. About two months ago, I had a chance to hold a snake for the very first time, and it was a great experience. You can see the snake -- it's a rainbow boa named Kali -- on the pictures. You can see me grinning like an idiot too. :) I was fascinated to find out that Kali needs to eat only once in two weeks, and could survive for an entire year without any food.

Kali is two, maybe two and a half years old, about a meter long, and pretty much used to people. She belongs to a friend, and the friend's six-year-old granddaughter simply adores Kali and loves holding her. Kali doesn't complain, either; as I said, she's used to people, and doesn't mind being held.

...and very much loving it.

For the end, there's some snake fun -- if you have kids, they might love this one.

I'm somebody not real afraid of snakes - but not overly fond, either.

I can admire their beauty, their place in nature, their many fine qualities. Yet, as pets, would rather have something furry, not a critter I need to FEED something furry.

I prefer cats as pets (by the way, this friend of mine has 4 cats and a snake), it's just that watching and holding Kali was fascinating. :)

I think snakes are beautiful but I don't think I could have one as a pet. I'm with Beverly, I'm a furry friend fan. That said, Kali looks very at home in your arms. The photos are great!

Thanks, the snake owner made the photos. :) Kali is a darling, as long as you're not making sudden moves or freaking out, she's quite comfy in your arms.

While I am not particularly fond of snakes, it is interesting how they feel so much different than one thinks. Their patterns are beautiful, and they are pretty cool, though, I must say.

There's also a misconception of the snakes not being able to feel affection, which is very much not true. They're quite capable of forming strong bonds with their owners.
